Faculty Development & Support

It is a challenging task to deliver good common core courses that meet the manifold objectives of the common core program, and achieve the goal of nurturing our students as a whole-person. The UCE Team will closely collaborate with the Center for Enhanced Learning and Teaching (CELT) to provide the support needed. Some activities being planned include:

• Faculty orientation
  - To induct faculty and teachers to the goals and objectives of the common core program
  - To arouse interests in designing and teaching common core courses
   
• Teaching workshops and forums; support groups among common core teachers
  - To facilitate exchange and sharing of experiences in teaching common core courses
  - To support teachers in the design of pedagogies and assessment strategies
  - To promote collaboration in teaching across departments and disciplines
   
• Funding opportunities
  - To support teaching projects to try out new courses and pedagogies
  - To encourage collaboration among faculty
