HKUST Common Core Facebook Profile Picture Design Competition

The Common Core Program is inviting all UG students to join this Facebook Profile Picture Design Competition to help inject a new look for our Facebook page. The winning design will be adopted as our profile picture and its designer will receive a surprise prize! Details of the Competition are as follows:

Objectives

The Competition aims to create a lively, energetic and welcoming image for the Common Core Program and to promote its value.

Who Can Participate?

We welcome all HKUST undergraduate students to join this design competition. Students may participate as an individual or in a group with a maximum of 3 members.

Requirements for the Design Entries

  • Each participant (individual or group) may submit more than one design. 
  • The entry should follow these specifications:
  • (a)
       Format: JPG, PNG, GIF
  • (b)
       Size: 2,048 pixels x 2,048 pixels
  • (c)
       Minimum resolution: 300 ppi

Submission Procedures

Participants should send the completed submission form and soft copy of the design(s) to uceo@ust.hk. Participants are required to complete the Copyright Declaration section on the form.

The closing date for submitting the design entries is 8 April 2016.

Selection Criteria and Scheme

UCE (Undergraduate Core Education, Academic Registry) will short-list design entries based on the design concept, creativity and attractiveness. The short-listed designs will be posted on our Facebook page for two weeks for open voting.The winning design is determined based on a final score calculated as a total of the following:

  • (a)
    Number of "Likes" from open voting on Facebook : They count for 50% of the final score.
  • (b)
    Staff votes : Each member of the Committee on Undergraduate Core Education (CUCE) and the UCE staff can vote for a maximum of three design entries. Their votes count for 50% of the final score.

Design entry with the highest final score will be the winning design. If more than one entry get the same score, the CUCE members and UCE staff will make the final decision.

Prize

  • (a)
    An Octopus Card in HKD1,000 value will be awarded to the winning designer.
  • (b)
    The winning design will be adopted as the profile picture of the HKUST Common Core Facebook page.

Important Dates

  • (a)
    Entries Submission - 21 March to 8 April 2016
  • (b)
    Voting on Facebook - 15 April 2016 (12:00 nn) to 28 April 2016 (12:00 nn)
  • (c)
    Result Announcement - 6 May 2016 (on our Facebook page)
  • (d)
    Prize Collection - The winner will be notified individually about the prize collection details.
