LOL, JK, Slash, even haha are used so often in texting. Many people, even experts, think that it is an assault to the language we have, by creating words that do not make sense or destroying the original beauty of language.

Linguist John McWhorter viewed that texting is not exactly the same as writing, but as “finger speech”, a new form between writing and talking. He considered it as a convenient way of communicating among people and more importantly, reflects the true culture in daily communication or conversation. Do watch out though, that when we do serious writing, like writing business or proposals, make sure we write properly, as these are not supposed to be casual conversations.
