Doing voluntary service for those in need is a very precious and meaningful experience. This gives us a good exposure and gain enormous happiness through serving the others and resolving difficulties encountered.

Tan, a HKUST student, took a semester off in Fall 2011 and went to Cambodia to serve at a children’s center set up by the Cambodian Children’s Fund. During his 5-month stay there, he faced a lot of challenges. Luckily he could apply various skills and knowledge he learnt in the university to tackle them one by one. The greatest reward to him is the smile from the children he served.

What is your personal goal and dream? Tan offered us a good example that our determination could offer us great courage to overcome external constraints imposed on us and to drive us to fulfill our dream.
